Tokyo Bekana : A very nice, slightly curled mustard with light green, ruffled leaves. Although this HEIRLOOM variety can be grown to full size for cooking, the baby leaves are spectacular raw, and work particularly well in salad mixes for the market. Neither Hot not bitterMizuna : Brassica rapa var. japonica – Mild and sweet enough for salads, the thin, light-green, feathery leaves are deeply-cut but not curled. Plants grow vigorously so thin to at least 20cm (8″). Cut the whole plant about an inch above the ground and it will re-grow or pick individual leaves.Tatsoi : Brassica rapa var. rosularis.A beautiful, easy-to-grow delight, the small, glossy, spoon-shaped, dark-green leaves with white stems grow in a perfect flat rosette. It adds rich colour, mild flavour, and nutrition to salads and stir-fries. Size depends on spacing so thin to 15-30cm (6-12″) apart. Tah Tsai Organic pac choi seeds can be sown spring through fall, and work well in containers.Diseases and pestsGiant Red Mustard : When small, the lovely burgundy coloured leaves with light green veins are so mild and delicious they can be eaten in salads. In summer, big leaves pack a proper mustard punch but they are much milder when cooked or when grown in cooler weather. Very winter-hardy, Giant Red Organic mustard seeds can be planted into October or in early spring to harvest as small leaves every few days. For big plants, thin to 20-30cm (8-12″) in the row.Arugula – Eruca Vesicaria – With a nutty, spicy taste that is sometimes pungent or peppery, arugula really perks up salads, sandwiches, and even pizza. It is very cold hardy, and has a milder flavour when grown in cool weather. High in Vitamin A and potassium. Bloom time : late spring, early summer, mid-summer, late summer. Slow bolting plant unless in cold soil. Plant every 2-3 weeks for constant supply of young leaves. Will not cross with other mustard family plantsSeed can be saved for 5 years
