Produced on the farm, this yellow wax bean was shared with us from Steven McComber Kahnawake Turtle Island.
Original name is unknown – Indian name is not shared. In the 1990s Stephen got it from Jiggy Hill in Tuscarora (Friend of Stephen) Jiggy got if from Marjorie Skye Nickname Snooks. She ran a cornbread factory and she grew it for her cornbread. And so Stephen draws the parallel that people from 6 Nations like smaller beans in their cornbread. He had 2 beans but Stephen only took the Hodson.
It’s a bean in the Buffalo Ny area and 6 Nations is near there and Stephen Believes it comes from 6 Tutelo Indian Nation is said to be the original people who had the Original Iroquois Cornbread bean seed came from Sam Green from 6 Nation (Nickname Uncle Sam)
Harvest all summer long when pods are nice and plump. Leave a few to dry and harvest seeds for next planting season.
