Grown on the farm, this French heirloom chicoree was originally bought from the amazing Fedco seed collective in Maine. I have been looking for an endive variety to try and make my own endives for salads and so far this frizzy leaved chicory is the closest I have found. This chicory is mild tasting when harvested young and then moves towards a bitter taste that is still really tasty.

Lettuce is cool-season crop that grows well in the spring and fall in most regions. Lettuce seedlings will even tolerate a light frost. Temperatures between 45°F and 65°F are ideal. (Source: almanac)
Because lettuce grows quickly, the best approach is to plant a small amount at a time, staggering your plantings.
