This Cherokee pole bean, produced on the farm is part of the
Sovereign seeds rematriation project. A beautiful black bean with a strong history, that offers a high yield. Le Noyau is fully aware of the history of settler colonialism and seeds. We are presently working on obtaining permission from various Cherokee stakeholders (gardeners, elders, community members) to be able to offer this amazing seed. The idea is that I sell the
time it takes me to grow and harvest the beans and then I can continue the 'sharing' of this incredibly important seed, a seed with stories of our collective histories. Our goal is to rematriate (send back) some fresh seed every year and work on revenue sharing with seed and gardening projects within the Cherokee communities. We are still waiting for permission to do so and therefore need to wait to be able to offer this seed again. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Sow: Direct seed after last frost
Harvest: After 90 days and the bean is brown and dry
